About Rita

Rita grew up in Queens, New York, but loved spending time in trendy Manhattan, home of the Fashion Institute of Technology and the fashion mecca to designers. Her favorite place to go was the “Village” (Greenwich Village) known exclusively for their trendy/funky boutiques and New York nightclubs which have always been an outlet for expressing your fashion sense.

She always knew she loved clothes, even as a little girl. However, since her family did not have much money, she found creative ways to reproduce high fashion on a budget. In high school, every cent earned from part-time jobs was spent on clothing. She enjoyed dressing friends and family for their birthdays, dates, parties and events. Although Rita studied Design in College, it was the demand from people asking to shop with her that ultimately led to “Rags to Rita.”

While many people want to be famous and look like celebrities, Rita just wants to dress like one. With her love of fashion she is constantly searching shopping networks like HSN, QVC, department stores, boutiques, and flea markets for great pieces. And with various subscriptions to fashion magazines and web sites, she stays up to speed on the latest fashion trends and beauty products.

“You always look so put together!” is often what she hears. Well, her belief is, if we know what works for our body, achieving the well put together look can be a reality for anyone. She’s helped numerous people of all incomes rework their wardrobes from the inside out. They each emerge happier and more self-confident, which for her is the ultimate reward.
